Texas vs. The Nation
Western Refining became the title sponsor of “Texas vs. The Nation” challenge in
May 2007. This is an event that features top seniors from Texas going head-to-head
against top seniors from around the Nation in an “All Star” football game held in
the Sun Bowl, in El Paso Texas. Buddy Ryan returned for the Team
Nation and Gene Stallings, former Dallas Cowboy assistant coach, and head coach for
Texas A&M, led Team Texas in the February 2 showdown.
Western Refining chose to sponsor this event because it continues to
bring national recognition to El Paso, with significant regional economic impact,
and
the association with “The National Child Identification Program”.
The National Child Identification Program is a community service initiative dedicated
to changing the statistics of the number of missing children. It provides parents
and guardians with a tool they can use to help protect, identify, and locate their
children if they are missing.
